I remember wanting to learn Japanese since I first watched anime, a long time ago. Truth being told, if only for anime alone then I would have probably forgotten this by now, but my interest for Japan as a whole has also grew over time, so that never happened.

Fate wanted that, when entering university, that I met a friend that, him too, was on a self learning journey of the language. He end up being the trigger for me to start too, after showing me his resources and study method. So, here’s where I’m at:

はじめまして、てんまです。

ポルトだいがくのがくせいです。

これは プログラミングのブログです。

どうぞ よろしく おねがいします!

Currently I can:

  • Write Hiragana and Katakana
  • Introduce me
  • Ask/Answer different types of questions
  • Identify some objects

In my study I use 3 books from the Minna no Nihongo Shokyu I series, namely the main, translation and grammatical notes, and workbook. I’m not that much concerned with Kanji right now.

With this post I start a blog series where I’ll show you, little by little, my progress. I plan on do that using small texts like the one above, probably showing my real writing for once in a while.
